Frequently asked questions

Is this for internal or external audits?

Both. We support statutory external audits (required annually for limited companies and NGOs above threshold), donor audits, internal audits, and special-purpose audits. The preparation process is similar for each type.

How far in advance should we engage you?

Ideally three to four weeks before auditor fieldwork begins. If your books are not up to date, we need time to reconcile them first. Earlier is always better — contact us as soon as you know the audit date.

What documents will you need access to?

Bank statements, invoices, receipts, contracts, fixed asset records, payroll records, and the prior year audit file. We will send you a specific list after the scoping call.

Can you do this if our bookkeeping is not up to date?

Yes, but the preparation will take longer and cost more. We will assess the state of the records and give you an honest timeline and quote before starting.

Do you prepare the financial statements?

We prepare management accounts and working papers that form the basis for the financial statements. Statutory financial statements (IFRS or IPSAS) are prepared by or in close coordination with a qualified CPA — contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
